 | The Alameda County Public Health Department and the Healthy Eating Active Communities are working together to reduce childhood obesity. The incidence of childhood obesity is on the rise! Children nowadays are living sedentary lifestyles and eat more convenience foods that contain more calories than they need. The extra pounds often start children on the path to weight-related health problems. This website provides health care providers and others with resources to assist their clients in the effort to fight childhood obesity. These resources are located within Alameda County and include places that provide physical activities (i.e. sports, dance, exercise, martial arts, parks and recreations). In addition, a list of Farmers Markets and specialized medical providers (i.e. nutritionists, dietitians, psychologists, psychotherapists, weight management) are also included. We hope this website is useful in providing the most appropriate resource for your clients. |
